Producers dropped plans for Paris Hilton to join German Big Brother after she demanded £2.7(~$4.85) million for a single appearance.
"She's worth a lot, but that was just too much," said Rainer Laux, manager of Endemol which produces the programme.
The socialite had been offered a million pounds to visit the show which has failed to pull in the ratings of previous series since it began in March.
Hilton would have joined ex-strippers, beauty queens, a married couple and a virgin who have already signed up and are living under public scrutiny on the 24-hour show that is hoped will run for years.
But with the current ratings, speculation is that Endemol will pull the plug early because of a lack of interest.
Nevertheless, that would be interesting to see
